A good practice review in Pöloske 🚎

On Saturday, 9 March 2024, a good practice review was carried out in Pöloske, Hungary. The Pöloske experimental station is located in this place (Pölöskei Fajtakisérleti Állomás – Vrstna poskusna postaja Pöloske). Fruit growers, winegrowers, farmers, and gardeners responded to our invitation. The experimental station covers an area of 75 hectares and has been operating since 1969. They have apple trees, pears, plums, sour cherries, cherries, walnuts, chestnuts, raspberries, rhododendrons, grapevines, and more, and especially plantations of tall fruit trees. To be precise, 60 different kinds of walnuts, 161 kinds of apple trees, 164 kinds of pears, and at least 10 trees of each kind. The vineyards have 436 different varieties. At the expert lecture, we got a lot of useful information which will be of great help to the participants in their next purchase of a fruit tree or grapevine. After the lecture, we enjoyed a short wine tasting. Then the participants were given a special assignment. In a separate room, they prepared 15 plates of chestnut puree. The assignment was to use a special form to taste the chestnut puree and evaluate its taste, color, texture, and smell. The assignment was a real challenge! It was followed by a tour of the property. The participants were given a professional explanation of each fruit tree. They got an answer to every question they posed. During the bus ride home, they discussed their impressions.
