The dislocated units of the Prekmurje Model Farm represent a diverse range of activities and traditions enriching the area’s agricultural landscape. Each unit makes its unique contribution to the overall farm experience while preserving the local heritage and promoting sustainable practices.

Dislocated unit Dolina pri Lendavi

The dislocated unit Dolina pri Lendavi, in the municipality of Lendava, is home to an ethnographic house, which is a restored farmhouse with a special feature – a cellar room, where a basic demonstration of the method of extracting pumpkin oil is on display. This unique collection preserves the heritage of the region’s pumpkin oil production.

The aim of the dislocated unit is to encourage local farmers to grow oil pumpkins. Among other things, the ethnographic house offers the possibility of lectures, especially on the topic of the production and processing of oil pumpkins. It is an important part of the local culinary and agricultural heritage, inextricably linked to Prekmurje, a region renowned for its quality pumpkin oil.

The dislocated unit also serves as a bridge between local farmers, promoting the planting of pumpkins and processing them into pumpkin oil. The final product obtained at the demonstration can then be sold in a boutique shop at the main farm in Banuta, where visitors can taste and buy this prized local specialty. This preserves tradition, promotes sustainable production and highlights the importance of local culture and the culinary heritage of Prekmurje.
