The Prekmurje Model Farm attended the already traditional Asparagus Day event in Dolga vas, which took place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, together with chef Štefan Sraka. At the event, we carried out a show cooking, where the chef prepared two dishes live. The first was “Kölnji” made of young nettle in asparagus cream, and the second was the dessert Chocolate Dice with glazed asparagus and strawberries. 

The promotion of the Prekmurje Model Farm was very successful. Many visitors stopped by the event, any many of them remembered our performance last year, where we also presented two very tasty dishes. The chef perfectly demonstrated the preparation of both dishes, and the visitors enthusiastically followed the entire process.

In order for visitors not to leave only with the memory of a delicious dish, we have also prepared a leaflet with a recipe so that they can prepare dishes at home. When planning the recipes, the chef used local ingredients and put emphasis on seasonal ingredients such as asparagus, nettles and strawberries. He also demonstrated how to easily make your own noodles, as our grandmothers used to make them. This is also the main guideline of the thinking of the Prekmurje Model Farm – the use of as many local and seasonal ingredients as possible.

Both dishes were well received by visitors. Many have expressed praise for the taste and presentation of the dish. The Prekmurje Model Farm was very positively received at the event, which further confirmed the importance and success of our work in promoting local cuisine.
