On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Idea TV held the fourth “Health in Our Hands” conference at the Prekmurje Model Farm. The main topics of the conference were the Common Agricultural Policy as a supportive environment for young farmers, the importance of linking agriculture with the educational process, and current opportunities and an innovative approach in agriculture.
First, the audience was welcomed by the President of the PMSNS Council, and then not only interesting, but also very important lectures began. The content of the lectures was selected with an emphasis on current needs in agriculture, as well as on possible innovative approaches. The advantages of large irrigation systems and the possibility of spraying vineyards with a drone were presented. A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia spoke about the “Product Quality Protection” scheme, which is extremely important for Slovenian agricultural products.
After the first part of the conference, a modest banquet followed with a selection of traditional dishes of bograč and homemade gnocchi with asparagus sauce. The asparagus, used in the dish, was grown at the Prekmurje Model Farm. Then the conference continued outdoors, where the Kolenko Farm – a farm engaged in the cultivation and processing of potatoes – was presented.
The conference concluded with a guided tour of the farm.
The conference was attended by a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia, The Institute of Agriculture and Forestry Murska Sobota and the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the University of Maribor.
The Prekmurje Model Farm is very proud to have been part of such an important story as the “Health in Our Hands project”.
