On August 5, 2024, in the early morning hours, our donkey Tončka had a little donkey! The little donkey, born without complications, quickly started walking, is diligently drinking its mother’s milk and happily hopping along next to his mother. The newborn donkey is completely black, only his snout is brighter. At the Prekmurje Model Farm, they are very happy that the little donkey was born without complications, and that the mother Tončka and her little one are feeling well.

Did you know?

• Newborn donkeys can stand on their feet within a few hours after birth.
• For the first few days, the donkeys drink their mother’s milk very frequently, every few minutes.
• They don’t stop nursing until they’re 12 to 14 months old.
• Until they are one year old, they do not separate from their mothers for more than 10 meters.
• They start grazing after five days, when the first teeth appear.
