The Prekmurje Model Farm was proud to support the “Day of Honey” in Kapca, on June 1, 2024. The event is extremely important for the local community, as it promotes awareness of the importance of preserving the natural environment and beekeeping.
The goal of the “Day of Honey” was to raise awareness among the population about the necessity of sustainable development and protection of bees, which are crucial for plant pollination, agriculture and food security. The event brought together beekeepers, agricultural producers and the general public in the exchange of knowledge and presentation of honey products.
At the event, three farms presented their work through honey tasting. The presenters were Štefan Šimonka from Kapca, Mirko Žižek from Hotiza and Drago Horvat from Mala Polana. Such presentations are important because they encourage local production and consumption of honey, strengthen economic ties within the community, and preserve cultural heritage and traditional production methods.
The Prekmurje Model Farm supports these types of events because they believe in education and community integration. Activities such as exhibitions, workshops and tastings encourage local production and consumption of honey, while preserving cultural heritage and traditional production methods.
