On Monday, June 17, 2024, we organized an event on planting vines of the table grape variety at the dislocated unit of the Prekmurje Model Farm. The planting was carried out with the participation of all employees at PMSNS and with the help of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the University of Maribor.

Before starting planting, it was necessary to accurately measure and determine the species, the distance between the rows and the distance between the planted vines in the previously prepared terrain. After thorough preparation, we began with the manual planting. Each vine was planted carefully and then protected against wildlife and weathering to prevent the sun from scorching the young shoots. We paid special attention to various grape varieties, which we carefully planted in rows.

We passed the morning in a pleasant and happy gathering. The selection of the table grape variety was a strategic decision within the “Establishment of a model farm” project , which, among other things, strives to showcase and introduce novelties. These innovations also include the replanting of already abandoned vineyard areas with varieties such as table grapes and residential varieties. In addition, the project aims to increase biodiversity and to promote sustainable and ecologically oriented practices in viticulture. By including different varieties of table grapes, we want to increase interest in locally grown grapes and encourage farmers to restore abandoned vineyards, which will contribute to the revival of the region and the preservation of cultural heritage.

The event was successful and contributed to the further development and promotion of innovative agricultural practices in the region.
